Super Bowl Sunday

We were awakened this morning around 4:30 by a loud woman in the hall. Apparently she and a friend were returning home from a night of partying. I got up to use the bathroom and listen to what was going on. She was very loud and obviously very drunk. It sounded as if she were right outside the door. Her friend was trying to get her to lower her voice but she was loud, cussing and crying. It took a while for me to fall back to sleep.

After breakfast Jim and I took a walk to Central Park. This time we headed north and explored more of the middle to northern parts of the park. It was nice out. Just like last weekend when I went with Skye there were lots of people out walking, jogging and bicycling. There is a reservoir in the park called Jaqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir. It covers roughly 1/8th of the park's surface. Jim and I walked around the 1.5 mile running track that surrounds the reservoir. We stopped to admire the architecture of some of the buildings on the West side of the park. They were flamboyant and had ornate art deco spiral towers. As we were looking up at the grandiose apartment buildings a man stopped to talk to us. He gave us a brief overview of several of the buildings we were admiring. He told us the architect was Emery Roth who designed many of the more artistic buildings during the 20's and 30's. Many famous people have homes in these buildings. The man lived in one of the smaller apartments near by. His apartment building overlooked Central Park. As he was leaving we noticed he had a bag on his shoulder and in the bag was his little Maltese dog La-Tee-Da. He said she was not currently groomed but she is a show dog and has won many medals.

We ended up walking a total of 5.8 miles today. It felt great to get out. We took our time walking around the park and once we sat on a bench and just people watched.  Of course I am loving all the dogs. When we got home we watched the Super Bowl and I made tacos. The strangest thing happened on the television. The announcers were talking in Spanish but the referees and commercials were in English. The language was set on English so we don't know what happened. We just put on closed caption and watched the best we could.

  1. Such pretty pictures! You've heard of Humans of New York, correct? You could start a Dogs of New York with your canine collection!
