First Signs of Spring

Today we took a bus to the Upper East Side. After 3 neupogen shots Jimmy's white blood cells should be good so we didn't have to worry about boarding the germ filled bus. The first stop was the Apple Store. My phone has been acting up lately and luckily it was not crowded and they helped me solve the problem right away. Well that's a good start to the day. Since the Apple Store is so close to Central Park we detoured and walked over there just for a peek. We didn't stay long and only skimmed the border of the park. Just long enough to see the buds beginning to pop out on the trees and just long enough to pass Bo Derek and a tall companion. If you are reading this blog and don't know who Bo Derek is...google her or just google "10".

After the park we walked to the post office. Good thing because my tiny post box was jammed full of mail, unfortunately mostly bills and health insurance statements but there was a notice to pick up a package from the window. Our friend An from the river sent us a wonderful care package. She actually drove to the property and took pictures of the house and barn, river and trees and put them in a mini photo book and mailed it to us along with a homemade CD and card. It really brightened up the day.

After the post office we took the bus back to the Hope Lodge. We had a couple of hours to spare before dinner. Tonights dinner was prepared by Cook for Your Life. This is a wonderful nonprofit program that provides hands-on cooking classes to various institutions and cancer centers around New York and New Jersey. The founder Ann Ogden is a two time cancer survivor and her mission is to teach healthy cooking to people touched by cancer.

It's always nice for someone else to cook dinner and clean up afterwards.
